The Himalayan Strawberry Festival 2024 was celebrated at Kurseong, Chimney Strawberry Garden on 18th May 2024 (Saturday). The event was organized by Indian Organic Farming, Mango Tree Village Haat, Himalayan Organic Life, and ACT COFAM, in collaboration with communities from Siliguri, Kurseong, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong. The festival honored Himalayan strawberry growers and encouraged strawberry cultivation using organic and natural farming practices to promote sustainable livelihoods.
The celebration emphasized eco-friendly strawberry farming methods that protect the environment and ensure healthy produce. It also highlighted the creation of value-added strawberry products like Himalayan strawberry jam, strawberry juice, strawberry jellies, and preserves, providing farmers with new opportunities for entrepreneurship and additional income from their strawberry harvests.
The event brought together strawberry growers, experts, and tourists, offering a platform to exchange knowledge, showcase strawberry-based innovations, and strengthen local farming communities. It aimed to make strawberry cultivation more viable, sustainable, and profitable, while promoting strawberry-focused agrotourism in the region.
As part of the wider Himalayan Organic Life mission, the festival supported environmentally conscious strawberry farming, empowered strawberry growers, and contributed to making the Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills economically sustainable through strawberry cultivation. The event was a meaningful celebration of strawberry farming, nature, and community spirit in the Himalayan region.
